I think it's the right thing to do. A price drop was inevitable but after only 60 days it would leave a bad feeling which could impact initial sales of future Apple products.

it puts QUITE the nasty taste in those first time buyers mouths, as I can imagine.

Since when is it unacceptable to lower the price of a product? Those who bought ridiculouslyl expensive cell phones have only themselves to blame.
