Good
The LightWedge itself is the best book light I have ever used. It is light weight and easy to hold, comprising of an acrylic lens that lays flat against the page, with the LED light shining on the page from the side. The light shines only on the page, and in the case of small books, lights both pages. It can be used on either side, so when I finish with one page, I flip it over to the other, without having to unhook it or reposition it.
Unlike flashlights or other book lights I have tried, the Book Wedge has a bright, clear light but is not harsh to the eyes. It illuminates fully, so that I didn't feel as if I were squinting or struggling to read. This particular style is meant for, and works best with, hardback books of an average size. However, by turning it so that both pages are covered, it works fine for paperback books as well.
It takes four AA batteries in the side of the light. The door was a bit tricky to work at first, and I feared I had broken it. Luckily, I hadn't and have been able to work it smoothly since. Supposedly, the batteries last for 40 hours. I haven't used it long enough, yet, to know if that is true.
It also includes a page turner attachment for the bottom of the Wedge, to make "one-handed reading" easier. I found that it doesn't work quite as well as advertised, but does actually turn the page. I then had to use the other hand to pull the light off the prior page and put it on the next one, rendering the one-handed reading void.
The Harry Potter element of this light, though probably not worth the extra ten dollars, is still fun. It is called the "Lumos" book light, in reference to the Lumos spell. The Book Wedge comes with seven buttons that can be used for the on/off switch; the user has a choice of a Golden Snitch, Harry's glasses, the Hogwarts logo and more. They easily snap on and off, yet stay firmly in place. There is a Harry Potter logo on the left hand side and the Lumos logo on the right. The best feature of all, though, is the box it comes in, with a drawing of Harry and the Marauder's Map on the front and a neat inside-Hogwarts map (presumably the Marauder's Map) on the inside. I couldn't bear to throw it away.
Overall, the LightWedge company has me hooked, as their product is by far the best for night reading, and this particular one is ideal for Harry Potter fans.
I really like this item! I read every night. The light is evenly spaced and soft on the eyes but bright enough to read in a dark room. I gave it 4 stars and took off one star because the only drawbacks for me is that it tends to get smudgy and also you have to move it by hand from page to page. All in all this is definately a nice light and I would recommend it to anyone. It would make a nice gift for someone who enjoys reading.
This item is totally awesome I love it so much...I have tried other book lights but none of them have worked as well as this one. My dad even likes it and is considering buying one for himself too. You just need to make sure you use brand new batteries to get the perfect lighting. One of the best parts is you can chenge the light switch with different buttons I change mine everyday. It is super cute.
This booklight is great! In absolute darkness I can read my book. It holds the page down and lights the entire page evenly. The only problem I had with it was a slightly loose battery connnection which made the light go out a couple of times until I figured out what was happening. I slightly bent the metal battery contact that also helps hold the battery in place and that seemed to solve the problem. I can read in bed at night without disturbing my husband with the light.
Please believe me when I tell you that I've had many many book lights, and most did not work well at all. I bought one of these for my sister just for laughs last year, and was quite surprised to discover that it works so well. It is bright, and the light is dispursed over the page evenly. Works great for car trips or bedtime reading!
