humans, are we selfish?

The argument was that people are all selfish beings and the only reason we eve do anything for anybody else is because it makes us feel good. For instance, if you saw someone drowning in a river, would you think, "I'm going to save them so that I feel good?" Of course not. You'd save them because their life means something and you don't want them to lose it. But, some philosophers claim that we think on a subconscious level about how it would make us feel. Before we even realize we've thought it, they say, we think we're going to feel good about saving that peson..

I have to disagree here. Some people would weigh the extent of how' hip' it would make them to save the life of someone. They might even be selfish enough to ONLY save someone they deem worthy of their time.
It is wrong for sure, but that is human nature
