In the limit, price matters more. You'd die if you couldn't afford food, but you wouldn't die if you had to go without organic food for a while (or forever).

But I don't think that's what you were getting at. You're asking for opinions on whether it's worth it to pay, say, double, for organic food. In my opinion, it depends on the food and the consumer. I have a baby son, and we try to give him everything organic, simply because relative to body weight and growth rate, what he eats is a lot more important than it is for myself. Also, some food products (watery fruits, grapes, etc) absorb pesticides and chemicals in general much more than others, so I'd try to go organic with those, even for myself.

But again, the price matters a lot. If the premium for organic food is small, it's much easier to justify buying it than if it costs a Whole Paycheck.
