Well, I just came from the Sharks' training camp scrimmage in which JR played, and I must report that he does not look good at all. I watched 5 or so of his shifts, and all I saw him do was turn the puck over. I don't think he connected on a single pass. Other players also seemed to target him physically. I'm not sure if the coaches told them to do that to test him or if they were going after him because they sensed weakness.
Hopefully he'll get sharper with time. Otherwise his only value would be in "being JR" and hopefully drawing some of the opponents' attention just based on his reputation.

Complete waste of money. Maybe he was a great player at one time, but he's all about himself now and his skills have deteriorated to the point of him being a liability on the ice.
If that wasn't bad enough, the guy has an ego the size of Texas. I've no clue how Ron Wilson (who apparently cannot get along with the soft spoken Patrick Marleau!) is going to co-exist with Roenick. These two in the same locker room for 82 games? Yeah right.
Roenick's going to get his 5 goals to reach 500, and then not so quietly fade into the night. Look for the under-achieving Sharks to implode some time around January.
