This guy's life has been dedicated to breaking speed records. That's more risky than driving a car to work. The coastguard and airforce rescues that he's needed cost quite a bit more than any traffic accident recovery.

If you engage in extremely risky behavior over and over again you shouldn't expect the taxpayer to bear the burden of rescuing you.

You engage in far riskier behavior everyday when you drive your car to work. Would you say Paramedics responding to an accident are not warranted?
